This Update works only with NEC ND-3520A (retail & bulk) drives, not with OEM releases. OEM means part of a full PC package or external USB or FireWire variant of this burner. For OEM products contact directly your dealer, distributor or manufacturer of PC- or USB/ Firewire- package for service, support and firmwareupdates.

You can only update from Firmwareversion 1 .04. You can verify your current firmware with NERO InfoTool: http://www.nero.com

Pls note following instructions for update procedure:

Connect drive to secondary IDE channel as Master, use standard UDMA-2 IDE cable

Disconnect all slave hardware from IDE secondary Master

Update in Windows "Safe Mode"

Under Windows 2000 & XP login as administrator

Update without DMA mode, under Windows XP & 2000 in the device manager - "IDE ATA/ ATAPI controllers", you can switch from DMA to PIO mode

Disconnect all external USB/ FireWire devices.

Deactivate virusscanners, active desktop programs and packetwriting agents

Do not turn off power during the updating process.

Note: Warranty will be lost during false updating procedure, especially unofficial modified firmwares were used before.
In such cases we could not offer you a solution any more. You have to repair it by cost then.

INSTALLATION: After unzipping file pls. double click on "W352GF40.exe" file, follow instructions.
After, you have to reboot your system.

If you have problems after updating your drive use following steps:

1.Deinstall all your burnsoftware(s), also cleanup registry, e.g. registry cleaner can be found here http://www.nero.com

2.Update your mainboard driver(s). Contact manufacturer of your mainboard/ PC package for newest one.

3.Reinstall and update your burnsoftware.

To be on the safe side, you can also update drive by our service partner
Euro Point external. You have to send drive to the following adress:

Pls. do not forget to mark delivery note with sign "FIRMWAREUPDATE".

1. The medias below will be recognized with firmware 3.04,
but be informed, they won`t be added to our list of recommend medias because there is no guarantee for optimal burn results and performance.
2. The function to burn DvD-R9 DL medias will be added. (Note: multisession DvD-R DL won`t be supported)
3. This update does not add a "lightscribe technology" function.
