The firmware also disables SecuRec, GigaRec and VariRec. In mid. January 2005 the final version of this firmware should become available. Besides this warning, the Plextor Japan website states the following, translated with Babelfish:

**As for this firmware, because it is a beta stage, sufficient verification is not done.
**Please utilize this firmware on your own responsibility.
**Assuming, that after the updating to this firmware, damage to the data and the hardware occurred, at Plextor Japan does not compensate any possible damages.
