不知道大家有沒有看過12月號的PCDIY了...
在319頁有一篇小文章有提到相關的事情...
因為字不多...小弟就直接打上來:)

DVD+RW Alliance公佈一份新文件，內容中說明利用軟體升級的方式或是更改IC晶片，將現有的8倍速DVD+燒錄器支援燒錄dual layer空片，經過更改的燒錄器可能會有雷射功率不足、燒錄速度變慢等問題，以致於不能燒錄到碟片的最上或是最下層，不過，Philips與其合作公司Mitsubishi Kagaku Media在最近表示，他們已經想到解決的方案，使不可能變為可能，有市場的地方就會有人想出辦法是千古不變的道理。根據文件內容所述，提供給8倍速燒錄機支援dual layer空片的規格在2003年的12月將正式公佈。

看來應該會推出專門給8倍速用的dual layer空片，要是真的這個月就公佈...我想應該會引爆另一波購機潮吧 :D

超想買的，目前最想買的資訊產品~~可是，該不會只有笨Q才有做吧?! 希望有日系的。

還是，現在所有的8倍+RW機器都可以升級成DUAL LAYER的嗎?

NU8X不是也可以嗎 但是日期未定 日系好像都是+-R都8X
這樣會不會比較厲害呀 ^^ 價格也很厲害

BenQ will be possibly the first manufacturer to offer dual layer recording on DVD media. The successor of the DW800A, the DW820A is planned to hit the market between Q1 and Q2 of 2004.
BenQ seems to already cover the laser power demands for dual layer DVD writing with the current DW800A burner. This means that the mechanical parts of the DW820A dual layer burner will be the same as DW800A. Thus, firmware upgrade of the DW800A will be one of the possibilities to control the laser power for dual layer discs.

Although it is not clear whether owners of the DW800A will be able to simply upgrade their burners (firmware upgrade) in order to burn on dual layer discs, it is more than possible that optimistic overclockers will give it a chance.

Availability of dual layer DVD media is another question. Mitsubishi Chemicals will be the first manufacturer to offer such media, expected in Q2 2004.

820A將是正規的Double Layer機種...

不過800A還是有機會吧..
