What is redshirting? （原文連結）

Sports fans will recognize the term redshirting as the practice of removing a college level player from one year of the regular season’s games. This practice usually credits the player with an extra year of practice with the team and is intended to improve the player’s skills for future years. Frequently seen as a benefit for college-level competitors, the redshirting concept has been borrowed and adapted to some of our youngest students – those entering kindergarten.

Academic redshirting for young children refers to the practice of postponing entrance into kindergarten of age-eligible children to allow extra time for socio-emotional, intellectual, or physical growth. It is most often practiced in cases of children who, because of the cut-off dates for school entry, are likely to be among the youngest in their kindergarten classes. A moment’s reflection will help us understand that there is no way to have a class in which there are no youngest children. Redshirting does not eliminate variations in age within the classroom or eliminate variations in children’s readiness for school. The question is how the school accommodates the ranges of readiness of each individual child.

令我想到「紅角」，也叫做「紅人」。相對的就是「黑角」啦 :D
原文看來是「資優」的意思囉。高中的時候，我們
班上的「第一名」突然消失了一陣子，問同學才知道
他去了「數學資優訓練營」啦。為什麼我都不能去.... :cry:

仔細看了原文，才知道是「特別訓練」的意思。
延遲入學，利用一年的時間針對某方面進行「特別訓練」，
所以入學時都比同學年紀大。

突然想到一個詞：「紅魔鬼訓練」，不錯吧 :D

唉唉唉......剛剛不放心又仔細看了一遍，其實
並沒有「特別訓練」的意思，都是開頭的運動員那段
誤導了。只有「延遲入學」的意思而已啦.......年底
生的孩子，入學後都比同學小，家長不放心，所以
等下一年度才讓孩子入學，免得吃虧。應該就是這樣囉。:agree:
