Three days before the San Diego Padres open the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodgers Stadium, they have finalized their starting rotation, and it ends with a rather surprising candidate.

Veteran right-hander Chien-Ming Wang has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Padres on Friday and will be the Padres' fifth starter, according to Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

"I think he feels like he still has a lot left and some things to prove," Padres general manager A.J. Preller told Lin.

The 37-year-old will start the Padres home opener on April 7 when they take on the division rival San Francisco Giants.
