The usage is simple, just BD/DVD/CD Collections :laugh:

I don't know how I kill that hard drive, during the process of backing up the data from the old array (about 4TB). I just heard some clicking sound from one of the hard drive and LSI MSM just prompt me that array has been degraded :laugh:
The RAID 6 is still there, just with a dead hard drive, the array has been degraded.

Now with all my old data backup, I am starting from new, maybe a RAID 60.
and also need to update my firmware to see if thats the problem with the memory chip :cry: :fear:

Actually I couldn't find the right link for my product.

The one I have is 4 port 8808>8807.
I got two of those adapter last time with my LSI 9265

I only need one port right now, coz thats the next project :laugh:
If I need more ports, I'll connect LSI port #2 > Intel SAS expander > 8808 to 8807 Adapter.

When everything is finish, if I need to expand in the future. I am looking forward to buy something like

但是你要注意連接的正確性!!..
否則你有可能發生幾種狀況:
-some drives presented out of order
-some drives not showing up
-duplicate port numbers
SAS Expander之後不可再串接>1以上的expander encolsure..

顯然你應該繼續保持你的RAID Array config...
確定確認你RAID configuration的配置(ex: stripe size?)
並不建議採用混合式RAID..
1. 效能沒有說多好
2. 死了很難救

如果update還有問題..
你要做RMA了..

我建議你要在你每個HDD上標上slot number...
原因:
1. 冤有頭, 債有主. 死了可以找死因
2. 易於維護

我的建議是你應該繼續使用RAID 6..

1. RAID 60的parity架構會更複雜
2. 更考驗RoC性能
3. 萬一他死了, 複雜的parity架構並不易於救援..
