之前板上有網兄跟我pm詢問過4224的一些問題...
當中有提到LED Control的疑問.. 各位使用者阿... 這東西既沒有GPIO也沒有I2C設計... 一個較大的storage pool... 各位要怎麼管理??...:confused: 在我看來只能用軟體去監控.. 一個重點性的問題就是... 像是LSI MSM由於沒有接上GPIO或著I2C.. 那個Locate的功能基本上是廢掉的... 根本就是要每個tray上面用貼紙或著用某些方式去標上slot number..:stupefy: 否則其中一個掛或著offline了就有你好受的.... 本人崇信LED Control第一線控制的重要性... 所以一直都是堅持chassis必須要具備backplane with enclosure的特徵...:flash: 另外有網友跟我詢問過她的chassis帶有enclosure機能.. 不過他的Activity LED運作不正常.. 例如一個GHSP或著DHSP存在的情況下... tray的Activity LED會一直blinking... 這個問題的根源基本上是GPIO或著I2C運作不正常所導致的.. 事實上這依然是normal status.. 問題就在於你沒有讓GPIO或著I2C正常通訊.. 也就是說你需要在initiator接上GPIO或著I2C到backplane才能正常控制.... Activity LED閃爍異常的可能性原因: 1. 沒有接上GPIO或著I2C.. 2. 有GPIO導出, 但是狀況依然如此, 這個問題可能就在於cable上, 那個cable有問題. |

那個memory module有可能出問題了.. 也許你可以嘗試刷新f/w看看.. 因為你的f/w版本很舊.. 舊版的9265 f/w bug一大堆.. 至少有150個bug以上... |

Anyway, keep the story short, I am building my system again and this time no more Norco. This is the case Fractal Design Define XL + the old crap like LSI 9265i + Intel SAS expander..etc Will update photo later on... when everything is D O N E !!!! The case right now contain 14 2TB Hitachi hard drives with the help from Silverstone CFP51 During the setup process, I some how lost a hard drive from my old raid 6 :tu: and not only that, I killed one of the hard drive SATA power connector :laugh: :stupefy: Anyway, getting to the point. With 14 2TB hard drives, which raid is the best setup? I still kind wanna go RAID 60 with 12 drives + 2 Spare. Also, is there a big difference with 2 Axles 6 Drives each vs 3 Axles 4 Drives each? Is there a better suggesting? Thanks |
With 4 HDD I'll do RAID 1+0, In worst case A0 n B1 both failed I can still get it back.
With 14 Hard-drives, RAID60 is a good choise, Raid5/50 I'll not touch it again/ever... Storage this big you must consider rebuild time. Failure(data lost) is not an option, Size and redundancy is the most important thing to look for. 引用:

但是我要先說明一點關於SAS expander的問題.. 下面這種接法是不允許的: RAID HBA(initiator; use 2 connectors)<-(connect)->SAS expander<-(connect)->SAS expander 如果要這樣串接... RAID HBA(initiator; use 1 connector)<-(connect)->SAS expander<-(connect)->SAS expander 維持1:1:1... During the setup process, I some how lost a hard drive from my old raid 6 你是怎麼丟失你的old RAID array?? 你有更換過connector位置??.. 這可能會牽涉到OAR/ODR議題.. 比較複雜一些.. |

Actually I did think of doing 12 HDD in RAID 10 but just crazy to think that I only got 12 TB in return :laugh: But not any better with RAID 60, coz I only got about 16TB in return. To be honest, so far I don't think I have that much data but just for the future planning, 12TB might not be enough With 50, too risky when losing hard drive and needs to worry when rebuilding better not lose another one.
