Just got a Hitachi T7K500 250GB SATA2 with 8MB buffer.


The metal used is slightly coarse compared to the previous model.

The STR disappoints. AAM is off by default, access time is good in line with IBM/HGST's tradition. My mobo supports 150MB/s only thus the low burst rate.


Double confirmed... The motor is dead slient, seek noise is comparable with older Hitachi 7200rpm...

Conclusion : Try not to get 250GB and 400GB model :o

Hi, T7K500 250GB is around the same performance as T7K250 250GB as they're both 4 heads 2 platters.

您用的是SATA II 8MB buffer...但只開了SATA I, Burst Speed 上以之前的大大分享還輸給IDE 的T7K250 160GB,
Acess Time 還足足慢上1 ms...
Average Read 看起來差不多，但是這還只是160 GB 而已，
若shunglee大所言正確...那同樣的單碟密度T7K500 就是輸給T7K250 同樣地"4 heads 2 platters"
同樣地250GB，同樣的8MB Buffer 了~囧~
若開啟了SATA II ，可能只有在Burst Speed 有所提升吧?!
不知是否跟測試軟體有差?! 之前leewayne 大把7K160 SATA2 當SATA1測還有135.8 MB/s
也許就如你所說，只因為碟片數量上的規格造成的效能衰弱?! 我還是覺得差太多了
也許您該注意一下您拿到的是否是不良品>_<
不然就是Hitachi 做硬碟做到爛掉了?! >_<
還有您說它比起之前系列更加安靜...有沒比7K160...不知是否震動上也有所改善?!

Okie another update. Tried true SATA2 on my bro's rig & here is the result.


ncq is on by default on the 6100 mainboard but i disabled it. SATA2 is auto sensed, no need to enable via Feature Tool anymore. :lol:

看來用不同軟體測得有點差異...
不過換個平台下開SATA2，依同個軟體測得，如預期只有Burst Rate 提升...
換上HD Tach 測得Average read 54.0 比T7K250 160GB 高了，但仍比56 低點...
我也沒看到T7K250 250GB 的實際數據，也只能依他人所言判斷了><b
Access Time 也仍是超過13ms 跟其他人的7K160 差不多，但好像不同人測得又有點歧異...13.1~13.9 ms
不知只是統計上的誤差還是有其它因素?
還有一個舊問題，方便的話能否比較震動上也有否改善?!

Hi supstring, no problem man, glad to post here. The T7K500 seems genuine, can check the warranty status online. The sad thing is instead of 3 heads, i got 4 heads resulting in 125GB per platter. The different spec sheets at HGST website make it even more confusing.

The vibration seems much worse than my Seagate 7200.10 320GB PATA. Was holding the HDD in my hand when doing seek time. Not sure how it compares to older Hitachi HDDs (all sold away) as vibration is not much an issue for me in my current casing, heh. :agree:

Will be sending this back for a new Raptor 36GB, or 7K160 160GB SATA. Samsung T133 400GB is nice but too expensive here. :stupefy:

那是指說any Dsic 最多可用兩面嗎?! 一面一個head...
T7K250 250GB has 2 discs and 4 heads ...一面約67 GB
T7K500 250GB has 2 discs and 3 heads ...一面約83 GB ，其中一面沒有用到?!
是這樣解釋嗎?!
可是不是據稱密度越大效能越好嗎?!
7K160 only 1 disc ，一面80GB，效能差那麼多?!
