I have just bought philips dvdr890 yesterday. Originally i would like to buy the sony one, but they told me i can not record the tv shows if i buy the private importated machine instead the one from sony company.

So far i am satisfied from philips one. But I have only tried dvd+rw for HQ and SP mode. I hope it can work well in the future.

Unfortunatelly this machine can not play Pal system of DVD. I am curious if the ones made in taiwan(China?) can do that or not?

hi, my machine could play pal system dvd without problem; it is really a nice bargain to get dvdr-890 at usd299.

i didn't try ff/rew, but my recorder's reaction to remote is slower than normal dvd player, guess most of the recorders are the same? but 1-2 seconds are kind of too slow?

oh, my Philips dvdr75 reponds normally in menu selections. It is just a bit slow/lag when I press the Fast Forward (FF) and RR buttons.
By the way, FYI, the US models of Philips dvdr75 plays both NTSC and PAL dvds!!

水貨的Sony只有日本規格的Tuner,意思是68台之後看不到,很多人因此不想買日規的DVD 錄放影機,但問題是台灣的第四台從68台開始有什麼節目好錄的?

買了就買了,不用後悔,890是市面上唯一有色差輸入的機種,好好用吧

Privately imported Sony DVD Recorder contains Japan-system tuner, which means you can't see a damn thing from channel 68, and hence no one wants to buy that kind of machine. Somehow, you might ask youself that is there any good channel from channel 68?

You'd bought it, so you take it. No need to regret, 890 is the only one built in Y-Cb-CR inputs in the market. Enjoy it!

所謂68台，是指日規接收器，指定的68台，並不是台灣頻道的最前面68台。

像是我的日規錄影機，就收不到台視。另外我家的第四台，東西跟TVBS-G是在93台跟92台。這兩台是我平時固定在看的頻道。

philips dvdr890 用那一個品牌的空白dvd+rw dvd+R 錄比較好呢

去光華商場問philips的+RW空白片少得可憐
裸片單價要75-80元

是否有別的穩定片可以用呢

我這個月買了一台Philips DVDR75,用錸德+RW 2.4X 一片60分轉錄收藏的音樂片LD,畫質非常優異.以一片120分轉錄VHS畫質與原VHS無明顯差異.但用120分錄LD則畫質有變差.這台編輯功能還不錯,可切開titles,可任意變更順序,加入或取消chapter點.
用+RW的好處是不必Finalize就可以在別台DVD播放.放過還可以繼續加錄.可以洗掉不要的部分,可以重複使用等等,相當方便.這點-R的機器就辦不到啦.
缺點是操作設計不太符合一般人的直覺習慣,也就是不太人性化啦.說明書看了好久才弄懂怎麼用.
用這個轉錄以前拍的VHS,Hi8,DV實在比用電腦方便太多了,省時又省力.而且有iLink,要轉DV更沒有失真的問題.在美國賣場賣USD$450.
