聯發科4G首役，出師未捷？

Although MediaTek has delivered its 4G chip, the MT6290, to clients for verification, first-tier China-based handset brands are believed to prefer solutions from international players such as Qualcomm, Marvell Technology and Broadcom, for their first waves of 4G smartphones.

還好，3G市場MTK沒受影響。

MTK在4G上是落後了
MT6290目前還是處於驗證的階段
真正大量出貨可能要到下半年了
上半年還是主攻3G的市場

MTK向來是沒辦法搶下第一波的
可是急起直追的能耐也是讓其他廠家望塵莫及
像是現在主攻的Android
誰還記得三年前MTK根本就沒有把Android放進產品線中
然後轉眼三年間
先是出了6573然後6575/6577
到去年熱銷的6589
加上超好的turnkey solution
這都是別家別辦法跟上的優勢

Rockchip還真有錢, 直接上最新的IP... :eek:

4核A12 + 4核Mali-T764, 這種組合的SoC拿來作平板, 應該是很爽快, 看來可以好好觀察一下RK3288的終端產品

中移動4G目前尚無VoLTE，語音方案仰賴CSFB。後者堪用，卻非優質；自去年底到最近，都有反應通話不清晰的客訴，用戶體驗不甚佳，也呼應了市場早先的預測與影響普及的疑慮。事關重大，中移動當然不會以為「出錯誤的比例很小」而以身試火。是故MTK吃虧了。

未來MTK的4G晶片前途，可能得視其在語音方案CSFB跟VoLTE的表現而定。

不過真的很搞笑
連CES展都可以把CPU的編號寫錯
這家公司我覺得還是再觀察看看吧

看好MTK在中國市場的未來發展潛能，華爾街分析師唱好其成為基頻市場的二當家。

Dominant share in local markets (China / Asia) positions MediaTek to benefit from stronger Local unit growth vs. Export. Growth in China will be bootstrapped to LTE as 3G hands the reins over to LTE over the next few years. The largest OEMs in China (Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei, and Coolpad) are all current customers […] We expect MediaTek to be ready with an LTE thin modem (MT6590) in 1H14, ship its first LTE SOC (MT6595) mid-year, and sample worldmode chipsets in 4Q14. Others have struggled and the path to certification is not easy. If they do succeed, our estimates are likely to prove very conservative given their existing relationships and large customer footprint in China. Currently sampling a 5-mode LTE thin modem (MT6590) with shipments in 1H14. However, we see a tough comp against Qualcomm’s thin modem (MDM96x5) given their time to market advantage.

看法與digitmes線報相左，不過MTK在國際品牌客戶的進展的確醒目，雖然多是針對中國或新興市場的機種。

地瓜鬥惡龍，高通也眼紅？

The recently released Nvidia Tegra K1 benchmark scores on an unreleased All-in-One desktop platform are generated without taking into consideration any thermal constraints of a mobile environment. For a relevant comparison, we would need to see the Tegra K1 in a mobile use case - assuming it will have some traction in smartphones and tablets - instead of a wired reference design with heat sinks and no need for mobile power management. We look forward to seeing how Tegra K1 commercial devices compare to Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 805 processors.

痛擊Cortex-A15高功耗的罩門，高通揶揄Tegra K1在開放空間的跑分不算數的。Krait的功耗確實優於A15，但效能也稍遜了；Adreno不如Mobile Kepler，也是能預見的，自然功耗低。不過，兩者在行動裝置上的過熱降頻都是無可迴避，只是幅度差異罷了。高通此舉，儼然五十步笑百步。"assuming it will have some traction in smartphones and tablets" 這句可毒了，唱衰K1沒人要用。

SoC競爭激烈，攻防漸多，齟齬難免。態勢往往透露彼此處境優劣。Apple在A7處理器大肆宣揚64位元的領先與創新時，高通的老印副總嘲笑其為大而無用，沒多久就調職了。這次小咖的nVidia拿驍龍來消遣，高通可是按捺不住，立馬回擊，果真是孰可忍，孰不可忍呀！
